Barking and Dagenham’s Women’s Anthem | OBLive [2018]
Barking and Dagenham’s Women’s Anthem was launched in 2018 to celebrate the lives of local women.
Barking and Dagenham’s Women’s Anthem is part of the borough’s HerStory celebrations, marking 100 years since some women first got the vote. The anthem was written by folk artist Lucy Ward and Choral Activist Kirsty Martin, and inspired by women from the borough, past and present.
After months of practicing together the group performed to a record crowd at Barking Folk Festival. We joined them from their first workshop together right through to that performance.
