Take part in a weekend like no other as Barking and Dagenham Council joins forces with DigiLabs to host London’s first cohesion hackathon.
Local people, businesses and community groups are invited to come together over the weekend of 30 September to 1 October to solve some of the most important challenges facing Barking and Dagenham today. Whether your passionate about improving your neighbourhood or simply up for a challenge, you’re just the person we’re looking for to take part.
With 48 hours on the clock, participants will work in teams to develop, test and pitch solutions to a judging panel of experts from across the capital. Groups will be searching for both digital and non-digital solutions that could improve relations between the community and the police, bring people together across the borough, encourage the reporting of hate crime, and challenge perceptions of public safety. And a cash prize will be awarded to the team pitching the winning idea!
The event will take place in Barking Learning Centre from 11am on Saturday 30 September until 4pm on Sunday 1 October, and participants are invited to arrive singularly or in teams. Anyone interested in taking part should register via Eventbrite. For more info, email Phillippa on Phillippa.banister@lbbd.gov.uk.
