It has been one year since we entered the first lockdown brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic. It’s a day that completely changed our lives and the way we live and work. The last year has been the toughest in living memory and every single one of us has been affected by the virus – we all know people who have become sick and, tragically, some of our loved ones have lost their lives. And, we’ve all made huge sacrifices to protect each other, especially vulnerable people, from coronavirus.
The past year has been incredibly tough, but it’s also had moments of great courage and hope: we owe so much to the key workers who have done so much to keep us safe, and the coronavirus vaccines have been developed and produced at a pace never before seen and on a global scale. Throughout it all, in Barking and Dagenham, we’ve all come together as community to do everything we can to support each other – thank you so much for working with us to get our borough through the last year.
As we reflect on the past year, we know that better times will come.
