Barking and Dagenham’s Women’s Anthem gets underway [2018] | OBLive

On International Women’s Day, Studio 3 Arts opened its doors to local women for the inaugural workshop for Barking and Dagenham’s Women’s Anthem.

Barking and Dagenham’s Women’s Anthem is part of the borough’s HerStory celebrations, marking 100 years since women first got the vote. The anthem will be written by folk artist Lucy Ward and Choral Activist Kirsty Martin, and inspired by women from the borough, past and present.

The anthem will be performed on stage at this year’s Barking Folk Festival. So the group are now looking for members of the choir to join them.Rehearsals for the anthem will begin in April, and there’s an open invite for local women. Find out more on the council’s website.
